I held our first poker event as the Senior Poker Club on July 31st 2009 in Princeton, NJ. The idea was to host a Texas Hold'em poker tournament for the residents of the assisted living community that hired us. Within the first two minutes I realized that half of our players had never played poker before, let alone Texas Hold'em, and I quickly began teaching everyone how to play.
At the end of our hour and a half long event I knew I was on to something. One of the players asked if she could give me a hug at the end, and she wasn't even the winner. I guarantee I would not have received a hug after a shift in AC!
I hired my first part time dealer later in October when I was booked solid with two to three events a day, a good place to be. Since then we have continued our growth and are now up to 7 part time dealers hosting over 100 events a month, serving:

In April 2010 we changed our name to the Traveling Poker Academy and formed as an LLC. Since then we have added poker tournaments, corporate parties, casino events, fundraisers, networking events, conventions and home parties to our expanding repertoire.
